The Northumberland & Tyneside Group

The Northumberland and Tyneside group is a part of Endurance GB - the National body for endurance riding in England and Wales. If you are a member of EGB and live in Northumberland or the Tyneside areas, you will automatically have been assigned to this group unless you elected to join another Group.  If you are not a member of EGB but live in our area and are interested in finding out more about endurance riding, then why not come and join us on some of our social and training rides, and find out more about what fun it is to “do endurance”.

The Northumberland & Tyneside group started in 2000, having been previously known as the Durham and Northumberland Group. The group have 59 full riding members, some of whom travel and compete country wide, doing shorter non competitive rides and ER’s.  We are keen to encourage local riders to consider endurance riding

The ride calendar includes a number of training and pleasure rides within the region, including Harwood Forest, Titlington (Alnwick), Wark Forest and Druridge Bay Beach several of which are candidates for upgrading to competitive rides in the future. The Group’s existing competitive rides are Hexham and Titlington which both have pleasure rides.  Ideas for new rides are always welcome - as is assistance at current rides!

Come along to our social evening, ‘Intro to Endurance’ on Thursday 1^st March 2012, at Dissington Hall, Dalton, Ponteland, NE18 0AD with a  talk and illustration of Equine Dentistry and it’s benefits for the healthcare of horses, given by our principle guest speaker, Francis Bakker, Equine Dentist DVM MRCVS. A further presentation will be made by experienced Endurance GB member and chairperson, Diane Holmes on all aspects of long distance riding from Pleasure Rides to Competitive rides. To start at 7.30pm. No need to book – Free entry.

Why not come along and enjoy our social evening with a chat, browse through lots of information about long distance riding, while enjoying a cuppa?!

Subject to the level of interest, the Group organises social events to encourage local riders and members to meet each other and to develop support networks – as well, of course, to have fun evenings out!
