The Northumberland & Tyneside Group

The Northumberland and Tyneside group is a part of Endurance GB - the National body for endurance riding in England and Wales. If you are a member of EGB and live in Northumberland or the Tyneside areas, you will automatically have been assigned to this group unless you elected to join another Group.  If you are not a member of EGB but live in our area and are interested in finding out more about endurance riding, then why not come and join us on some of our social and training rides, and find out more about what fun it is to “do endurance”.   See Rides and Events

 

Northumberland & Tyneside Endurance GB invite you and your horse to become members of our group. There are two options:

 

1.)  Join Endurance GB either as a riding or non-riding member. 
You will automatically become a member of your local group (usually allocated by postcode), although you can choose an alternative group if preferred.  National membership entitles you to enter competitive rides and compete for national trophies.  You have full voting rights (Young riders and children exempt) and receive all EGB publications.  You will need to register each horse you wish to compete on with EGB.

Further information on joining EGB is available at www.endurancegb.co.uk. Associate or Full member can enter pleasure, training and social rides organised by Northumberland & Tyneside group and other groups at members’ rates.  You will need to apply for a mileage card for each horse (available from the membership secretary).  At each ride you attend, ask the secretary to sign your card to allocate successfully completed kilometres.  At the end of the season, return your card to the trophy secretary to compete for group trophies and rosettes. 
Each group member receives a copy of the Groups newsletter and local ride application forms.

 

 2.)  Join as an Associate Group Member.
This is effectively a local membership scheme suitable for those who do not wish to be fully paid-up members of Endurance GB.  It is a good way for those new to endurance riding to gain experience at training and pleasure rides without having to commit to full membership of EGB and registration of the horse.

As an Associate Member you can join any group of your choice and should apply directly to the membership secretary of that group for an application form.  Once the form is submitted you will receive a membership card from Northumberland & Tyneside Group.

An Associate Group Member is entitled to the following benefits:

For an annual fee of £17 (£22 for a family) each member will be able to enter training and pleasure rides at members’ rates and be covered by EGB Public Liability Insurance.  This cover does not apply to non-competitive or pleasure rides linked to competitive rides when temporary day membership must be paid. (£5.00 supplement).

 

Members’ rates apply to other groups’ rides as well as those organised by Northumberland & Tyneside Group.

 

If an Associate member wishes to enrol as a Full Member of EGB (within a year of joining as an Associate member) there is a discount of HALF the joining fee when you upgrade to Full Membership. It is up to the individual Associate Member to inform the Society when they joined.

 

Just to let you know that we have recently enhanced Membership Renewals on the web within the EGB website to allow Associate Members to upgrade to Full Membership.

 

Associate Members who do this should:

 

i)        Go to the Members Only area of the website and enter their allocated EGB membership number and use their postcode as a password.

 

ii)       Click on “Apply for your website account password”, where they will be asked to enter their name, postcode and email address.

 

iii)     They will then receive their password by email if their name, postcode and email address they enter agrees with the records held by EGB, else they will receive their password by snail mail.

 

iv)     The Associate Member can then login to their Members Account and upgrade to Full Membership, you can also register your horses at the same time

 

We hope this will make it easier for Associate Members to upgrade if and when they wish to do so.

 

Associate members are eligible to attend Group General Meetings with voting rights decided by the individual group.

Associate members will receive the quarterly Endurance GB magazine and yearly handbook.

Associate members will receive the Northumberland & Tyneside Group and on application, horse mileage cards.

Associate members will be eligible for group accumulative mileage rosettes and for some end–of-season trophies.  (Completed cards must be returned to the Trophy Secretary to be eligible).
