ILLEGAL MOTORIZED USE OF BRIDLEWAYS

11/07/08

A group member, went to a meeting on rural crime in Rothbury in June. Illegal use of trail bikes was one of the issues discussed. The police were aware that their communications system was not very good and they have now set up a new unit so wherever you are in the county you ring 03456 043043 to report any evidence of illegal activity. 999 is for emergencies only. It was emphasized that this was better than ringing your local station. Anything reported to this new number gets logged and sent on to the relevant officer at once and they are supposed to come back to you in a few days.

30/04/08

The Northumberland & Tyneside group of Endurance GB (EGB) ‘4 for the North’ Competition had its second qualifying event of the season at the Ullswater Ride on Sunday 6th April. The ride started through lovely parkland, past a ruined castle, over grassy paths, fords, and then over the fell, rising to a dizzy height of 671m. Once again, the route was reversed from earlier years, as this route proved so popular with riders. It made a steeper ascent and more gradual descent.
